Today, EMS Chief Brazle named Medic Brett Johnson to become the new EMS Captain. Brett is a Virginia Beach native and graduate of Cape Henry Collegiate. During her senior year in High School, she ran a few EMS Observer duties and, immediately upon graduating in 2006, joined the Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad. In 2010, Brett graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Virginia Tech and received the Who’s Who Award for Virginia Tech that same year. While volunteering with VBVRS, Brett held several leadership positions and volunteered with the Marine Rescue Team. In 2013, Brett was hired as a career Paramedic with the department and became one of the original members of the Marine Medic Team. In 2016, she was a member of the inaugural VBEMS Competition team and competed at the JEMS World Conference and Games. Ms. Johnson’s promotion will take effect on March 16th and she will be assigned to “C” shift. Congratulations, Brett!
