Continuing education (CE) classes offered by the EMS Training Division are published under the Classes and Programs for Providers tab. For a list of classes, click here.

EMSAT Online *
As of July 2016, the Virginia Office of EMS opened an agreement with CentreLearn solutions, LLC, to enable Virginia EMS providers to once again receive free online CE courses. Fifty or more EMSAT programs utilizing CentreLearn’s platform are now available at no cost.
Your first step is to create an account with CentreLearn. Please read the following instructions, then return here and click on this link to start creating your account.
http://vaoems.centrelearn.com. To access free EMSAT courses, you must always use vaoems.centrelearn.com. To create an account, you will need your Virginia EMS certification number and expiration date. Be sure that the number is correct, as the Office cannot accept CE if your EMS certification number is incorrect. You may also be asked to enter your National Registry number and expiration date. Your first step would be to click on CREATE AN ACCOUNT.
EMSAT Satellite *
EMSAT is a satellite-based program produced by the Virginia Office of EMS. The program is shown at the EMS Training Center on the third Wednesday of each month from 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm, and each program offers one hour of continuing education credit for ALS and BLS providers. EMSAT courses are open to any EMS provider in the region.
Pre-registration is mandatory to ensure correct instructor-student ratios. Walk-in students may not be ableÂ to be accommodated. Please call (757) 385-1999 or email email@example.com to register.

Websites approved with VA OEMS continuing education credits
- Annual VAVRS Convention. Each September, the Virginia Association of Volunteer Rescue Squads (VAVRS) holds its Annual Convention in Virginia Beach. Presenters from across the state, including physicians, nurses, and EMS providers, offer CE sessions and specialty courses. The VAVRS CE sessions are free for VBEMS providers who have a VBEMS ID badge. Specialty courses require a paid registration. For more information, call 800-833-0602.
- Annual Virginia EMS Symposium. The 38th Annual Virginia EMS Symposium will be held November 8-12, 2017 at the Norfolk Waterside Marriott. This is the largest training event in the state and one of the largest in the country. Over 270 classes will be offered. The Virginia EMS awards ceremony is also held during this event. Registration opens spring 2017 and closes in October. Classes fill up fast, so register early.
