Elite Data Tip-Height of Fall

Elite Data Tip-Height of Fall

From  VAOEMS—Ground level falls should be reported as zero (0) feet.

This includes falling over, falls from standing, etc.  If the patient falls from furniture or a ladder, use the distance from lowest part of their body to the ground/surface they fell on.  Here are some examples:

  • If standing on a 12 inch step, the fall is 1 foot.
  • If lying on the couch and falling off, the fall is 2 feet.
  • If falling down a standard flight of steps from the top, the fall is 12 feet.
