VB Rescue – EMS is preparing to launch the department’s first-ever Advanced EMT Academy and is currently accepting applications for the new venture.
In accordance with Chief Ed Brazle’s plan to enhance VB Rescue’s capabilities, the department is holding a six-month long academy course that will give VB Rescue volunteers the chance to earn their Advanced EMT certification.
VB Rescue’s Advanced EMT Academy is open to VB Rescue volunteers who have held their National Registry Emergency Medical Technician (NREMT) Certification for at least one year. The course will meet in person every Tuesday and Thursday, but also features a significant online component.
Volunteer providers wishing to apply should contact the VB Rescue – EMS Training and Performance Management Division by calling (757) 385-1999 or emailing EMSTrain@vbgov.com. Applications for the Advanced EMT Academy will close on Aug. 21, 2022 and acceptance notifications will be made on Aug. 24, 2022.
