VB Rescue Holds First-Ever ‘Effective Social Media Use in EMS’ Course

Recruiting members and retaining those already within your system is always a paramount task for any organization. VB Rescue is no different.

VB Rescue held the system’s first-ever Effective Social Media Use in EMS course on Feb. 23, aiming at empowering VB Rescue members to use social media to grow the volunteer rescue system in the City of Virginia Beach.

“VB Rescue must continue to embrace social media as an opportunity for growth and learn how to properly use these platforms to communicate with our audiences,” said Ricky LaBlue, Public Affairs Officer for Virginia Beach EMS. “We’ve made great strides as a system over the last year and with courses like this, we can continue to improve our communicative efforts with those inside and outside our VB Rescue system.”

LaBlue, who designed and taught the course, stressed the importance of an effective social media presence and demonstrated tactics that work across industries. The course also explained the tools available to VB Rescue members and how VB Rescue members can evaluate their success over the course of time. Nearly 20 VB Rescue members attended the class, including Kristin Mauer, a Life Safety Educator for the Virginia Beach Fire Dept.
