VBEMS Dedicates New Building

VBEMS Dedicates New Building

For the very first time in the history of the Virginia Beach Emergency Medical Services (VBEMS), the headquarters and training center are together under one roof. On Nov. 18th, EMS held a dedication ceremony to commemorate this important milestone at 4160 Virginia Beach Blvd., with tours of the facility following the official dedication.

Earlier this year, Council approved the conversion of the old Adult Learning Center to the new headquarters and training center for EMS. After several months of renovation, the two divisions moved into the new office space in mid-October. This expanded facility offers a wide variety of opportunities for the largest volunteer-based emergency medical system in the country, including:

  • A primary training site for initial and continuing EMS education
    • Training capacity includes more than 4,560 square feet of dedicated classroom space capable of accommodating more than 115 students
    • Six skills training labs
    • One ambulance simulator
  • A service center for volunteer applicants processing, intake, and orientation
  • A training hub of citywide prehospital care operational oversight and coordination
  • A training site for Emergency Communications E911

Thank you to everyone who came out Saturday to support VBEMS! We hope you enjoyed your new home.
